Q: How much does Mazda charge to change the oil on an RX-8?
2007 Mazda RX-8.

A: Ours charged $30 for oil change, and a new filter.
And, it’s not easy to change the oil filter on these cars because they hide it behind some tubes/wires. very inconvenient to do it yourself.
XeX, yeah I can barely wrap my hand around the filter. They did that on purpose, to make you take it in for something as simple as an oil change, ridiculous.

Q: Can’t seem to able to find a used Mazda Rx-8 in Ny or Nj?
I tried all the websites. I am looking for a white 2004-2007 Mazda Rx-8 40,000mi or under. At $11,000 or under. Can’t seem to find any. I wanted this car for the last few years. Can someone help me out there? How did you get yours?

A: Look here http://www.rx8club.com/forumdisplay.php?f=43 and see if any are for sale near you. What your wanting to pay isnt out of the question for a 2004 but anything above that and I think your a bit low.

I paid 18k after taxes and fees for my 2009 rx8 with 19k miles on it and that was the best deal around where I live. Check craigslist for citys within 100-200 miles of you if you would be willing to drive for the right car.

Q: what type of oil should i use in my 2005 mazda RX 8?
Can some one tell me what type of oil should i use in my RX 8 and the reasons why i should use that particular oil. and does any one knows what a push start is?

A: youre supposed to use 5 20W kendall non synthetic oil, and make sure to take it to a place that knows this because many companies will not know how to properly change a rotary engine car. i took it to a tires plus and there was a specific sign that said mazda rotary engines required 5 20W non synthetic oil

Q: Why does Mazda only offer the Xenon headlights on the grand touring trims for the MX-5 Miata and RX-8?
Are the Xenon lights really that more expensive to install? I test drove a RX-8 with Xenons and Halogen lights aren’t even close. I like Mazda and I think the Miata and RX-8 are great cars if you are into those types. You can really drive them due to their moderate horsepower/torque and have a lot of fun without getting into too much trouble.

A: All mazda models have avaliable xenon lighting except for the tribute I think. If your mazda doesn’t have xenon you can add them or have them put in. I strongly suggest the 35w 5000k kit from ddmtuning.com. They have a nice factory look.

Q: Mazda RX-8?
How large is a Mazda RX-8 gas tank?

A: 61 liters exactly = 16.1145 US Gallons = 13.418 imperial Gallons.

Q: Mazda RX-8?
Is the Mazda RX-8 a recommended/reliable car to buy as a car which I will be using daily to drive to work?

A: If you are not great on maintaining the maintenance schedule, then I suggest not buying the car. I own a 2004 RX8 and average about 15 mpg. You will also have to add about a half quart of oil every few fill ups. It is a fun car to drive, a pain to keep up, but I love it. I would not suggest it as a daily driver. Meant to be driven hard on winding roads, not a grocery getter. I have picked up my niece and nephew from day care and I do get my groceries with it, but like I said, it’s not made for that. I would join our forum and get more info. We are at RX8club.com You will get a lot of info and learn how to get the most out of ownership. Here is a review you may find helpful. http://www.carsurvey.org/review_71124.html

Q: Mazda RX-8?
How much is a MAzda RX-8 with about 50,00 miles worth in good condition

A: Assuming about a 2004? I would pay around $17K

Q: mazda rx-8?
is a mazda rx-8 silver 4 seat car is it fast? and how good of a car is it all round ?

A: It is a 4 door suicide style (the doors open out like a cabinet) but looks like a coupe. It is fast once it gets going. Is it as fast in a straight line as a mustang? No. Can it eat a mustang alive on a curved race track? Yes. It is a perfectly balanced sports car. Its well made, if you want to know more about it, goto youtube.com and type in rx8 review and find the top gear review. On a side note, it does comsume 1 qt of oil between each oil change to keep the rotary race car engine happy, so you will always need to have oil handy and it also gets very poor gas mileage for a car its size.

Q: Mazda RX-8?
I know this car has a Wankle engine.., in the first few of them made there was 1.3 and a 1.6 engine..(i think) why do they get so bad mpg?
when it drops below 20 then that worries me.. the lowest it goes is 13.3mpg and thats terrible considering petrol here is $2 a litre thats something like $8 a gallon. (im english converted that..)

A: If it worries you, dont get it. Its not good on gas, period. And trust me (and others) its downright bad depending on how you drive it.

Its pure design. The Wankel is a tad wasteful by nature, thats one of the reasons it never flew. GM tested a rotary engine back in the 70’s (?) and couldnt make it work because face it, for something so tiny, its a guzzler.

If you are willing to fill up often, at the pinch of premium fuel price (octane 91 or better) you will reap the rewards with this amazing car. If you can afford the car, you can afford the gas.

Drive one. Try it out.
You’ll agree Felix Wankel was a genius.

Q: How much would it cost for a 17 year old to insure a Mazda Rx 8?
Mazda RX 8 2006 1.3L

A: Try this site

Q: Can’t decide between 2005-2008 Mustang or Mazda RX-8 – Please Help?
I am looking for a car for under $20k and I can’t decide between the 2005-2007 Mustang or the Mazda RX-8. I love the body style of the RX-8, but I really like the Mustang too. The gas mileage of the Mustang is better then the RX-8 but the RX-8 seems to handle better… So I don’t know.. Can anyone help me with this? If you don’t think I should get either car then please just don’t respond. Thanks!

A: Well if you haven’t driven these cars, you should definetly drive them first. They are a much different drive. If you’re thinking of the Mustang GT, then go for it, if you’re looking at the V6, then I’d get the Mazda. The RX-8, is a cool car, if you like the way it looks, it’s functional, really fun to drive, and has a lot of technology in it. The Mustang GT however is a fantastic value, the engine is more powerfull, and has way more low end torque. (That has always been an issue with the rotary engine). The Mustang also has one of the best sound systems i’ve ever heard. You can’t beat the rumble of a classic V8. The V6 on the other hand is old and dated. Even though it’s been tweaked, it’s a cruder, noisier, and a slower motor.

Q: I’d like to purchase a used sports car, would you recommend the purchase of the Mazda Rx 8?
I’m aware of the engine recalls, need to check oil level every 1k miles, and expensive parts, so most likely the 2004 model is out of the question

A: Mazda’s are not sports cars. Steer clear of them. Nothing but money pits.

A: Absolutely! It is a great car if you want a true sports car.

It’s fast, but not a red-light racer. It’s handling and braking performance stand up well against some of the best cars in the world. And with the 4 seats and easy entry/exit due to the suicide door setup is fairly practical, too.

As mentioned, the Rotary engine takes a bit more care but this is true of any high performance motor.

I have an ‘05 and haven’t had any problems with it. YMMV, of course. The ones with the most issues seem to be the 04’s (the first model year of any car seems to have more “teething problems”).but if all the recalls are up to date you should be Ok, especially if it comes with some warranty.

Q: If you had to choose to buy either the 2005 mazda rx 8 or the 2005 pontiac gto….which would you get and why?
I love the GTO for its scarcity and the fast, ls2 engine, but i love the rx 8 for its exterior/interior looks and sexiness

its a very tough choice….i’ve been leaning back and fourth

A: RX8!! Unless I was only going to drive my car in a straight line, to and from the gas station. The RX8 is sexier, and you cannot even compare the handling between the two, the RX8 is so superior. It also gets much better gas mileage.
I know the GTO has a crazy 6.0L engine, goes fast, and sounds awesome with an exhuast system, but the RX8 is the better all around car.
If you like the GTO, check out the new G8 that is coming soon, it has the same engine and it’s also on a RWD platform, it’s supposed to reinvent Pontiac… I hope so cuz they suck!

A: The RX-8 is a supreme disappointment. The hp promised originally was lowered 2 times before the production model. The handling is good and the weight distribution is excellent, but the GTO handles almost as well and its significantly faster.

The money spent to make the GTO handle like an RX-8 is nothing compared to the money it would take to make and RX-8 compete with even even the 5.7L GTO.

(The new incarnation of the GTO, when it had the 5.7L V8 was the fastest and best handling GTO ever made. The RX-8 is barely comparable to a pre-veilsides RX-7 turbo in either category. A Veilside RX-7 would destroy an RX-8 in everything but cosmetics).
