Q: problems while installing deck into Ford Escape?
I was installing a deck in my ford escape, and then the lights inside the car, stereo and power windows stopped working. Does anyone know how to fix this?
A: you blew a fuse check the fuse box below the steering wheel and the fuse box near the battery under the hood. ince you fixed it make sure you unplug your battery so you dont blow more fuses. hope this helps
Q: How is the 2002 ford Escape?
I am looking at a 2002 ford escape with 72000 miles on it. Anyone have any pointers or advice for a car like this? I have heard bad things about the transmission but then again I know someone with a 2001 that has 125,000 miles on it with no problems ever. I understand it is all how it is managed but the car seems to be in decent shape. Are most of the transmission issues experienced in 2001 pretty much worked out for the 2002 model?
A: its a good car…it just depends how much ur goin to pay for it….i’d pay like $3500-4200…..make sure the engine is clean and nothing leaks and everything is in shape
Q: 2003 ford escape cruise control set button dosn’t work When You press the onoff button it lights up the green?
2003 ford escape cruise control set button dosn’t work When You press the onoff button it lights up the green cruise on the dash but then when you hit the set nothing happens.?
A: Are you hitting the cruise control or the overdrive button? The cruise on my cougar has no light for cruise but one for overdrive. The button is on the shifter for overdrive. The cruise is on the steering wheel. You don’t have them confused do you?
Q: Can anyone help me with this rubbing noise on my ‘03 Ford Escape?
I have a 2003 Ford Escape, and it’s making a rubbing noise when driving. I think it’s coming from the front end on the driver’s side. It gets pretty loud at speeds from 35-50 mph. i’m not sure what could be causing this, as I don’t see anything rubbing on the tires. Can anyone give me some idea what the problem may be?
A: It might be a bad wheel bearing
Q: Is there a car similar to the Ford Escape?
I love the way the 2002 Ford Escape looks but I really do NOT like Ford. Are there any similar looking cars from a more reliable brand?
A: Mazda Tribute and Ford Escape r basically the same vehicles. If u dont like Escape’s looks, go for the Tribute. They r good SUVs.
Q: Would it be okay to buy this ford escape?
There is a used 2002 white ford escape for sale that i am thinking about buying. The dealership is offering me 6,250 for it. It is very clean but it has 125,000 miles on it… is that bad? will i be paying for repairs pretty soon down the line?
A: Personally, I wouldn’t do it. We had an Escape and it was the most miserable vehicle for transmission troubles we have ever had.
125K is not bad IF the vehicle has been well serviced and regularly maintained. If it hasn’t, then you could be looking at massive repairs.
But that’s still a lot of money for a vehicle with that many miles on it.
Q: Problems with rear door latch on my Ford Escape 2001?
I have a Ford Escape 2001 and the rear door is not functioning properly. I have the keyless entry system but I know it is not the remote but something to do with the latch. I took the car to the dealer and they want to charge me about $500 to fix it. Can anyone else let me know what else to do, or if you guys have any info on links about this problem please let me know. Thanks
A: The various small moving parts that comprise a latch assembly are very prone to giving problems, not the least of which are the latch won’t unlock with the actuator, the door lock won’t work at all, the latch won’t engage or disengage.
Check out the salvage yards-they probably have a damaged rear door that you can get the latch out of. But remember, they all seem to have a certain life expectancy.
And the time and effort to put one in ……….
Q: 2005 ford escape xlt aux input does it have one?
Ok I have a 2005 ford escape xlt and I wanted to connect my ipod to it withough an fm transmitter because most of the time it does not work well. Is there an aux input in it because i do not see one and if not is there a better thing to get to play my ipod?
A: no
Factory AUX inputs didn’t become available until 2008 model year.
I’m sure that there are kits available from most mobile media shops that could install one for you though
Q: Should I undercoat my Ford Escape 2008?
I have a brand new Ford Escape 2008 and was wodering if I should apply rust protection (oil based) to the underbody. I’ve heard that new vehicles already have it, but, what about Ford Escapes? BTW, I live in Canada where we have a lot of snow and salt during winter. Thks!
A: I think it would be a waste (depending on the cost). You could most likely do it yourself for cheaper… Besides the underbody is all painted, so it will take a few years for anything to happen.
Q: Is the 2005 Ford Escape a good vehicle?
I’d like to have answers from Ford Escape owners.
Like, is it good on the roads and such?
Are there any safety issues?
How much will it cost to fill the tank at an average of $1.29/litre of gas?
Also, what does it come with? Can I pay to have to have some things added on? I’m talking about GPS Navigation System, will I have to buy one for the Escape or will it come with one?
A: This suv is a very good all around vehicle as far as gas milage they are very good on gas. About the GPS I am not sure if it comes with an 05 but the new ones do but u can buy very nice GPS’s for as low as $300.
Go with the explorer and it wont let you down.
I have a 2007 explorer with 156,236 miles and it still runs like new.
Get a ford after all it is First On Race Day
Q: Should I buy a 2002 Ford Escape or a 2002 Mazda Tribute?
The 2002 Ford Escape 4×4 XLT has 89,994 miles on it and the dealer wants $8,902. The 2002 Mazda Tribute ES has 82,124 miles on it and the dealer wants $9,415. (I’m not sure which is better. All the reviews I’ve seen rate them the same.) I’m test driving both on Monday.. Help!
A: When you test drive the Ford and Mazda place the vehicles on a highway stretch and get a feel for the vehicle, indulge and drive the vehicles for a long time. The Mazda will handle better at speed. While I know you may not be a racer by definition, you are mom. One of the best safety features is to avoid an accident in the first place. The Mazda will have the edge. I cannot tell from your question if the Mazda is a 4 wheel drive. If it is not, get the Mazda Tribute ES. Gas mileage will be better with front wheel drive because you are not pushing and pulling two drive trains, which is the case with 4 wheel drive. See if either has a tow hitch, this is a sign that the vehicle could have been pulling something. Pulling anything is wear and tear on the engine and transmission, certainly something to pay attention to at 80-90,000 miles on the odometer.
Check the service records of both vehicles. One of the vehicles were taken care of better than the other. It would not be a tie, because of different owners. Another deciding point with children is to make sure the vehicle has rear seat side window air bags. It makes a huge difference to have them equipped on the vehicle. I would go as far as to say this should be a deal breaker, it is that important for safety in an SUV relative to children should something go drastically wrong.
If it fits the budget and they do not have the rear side air bags, consider Britax car seats. They are very expensive car seats, but if you read up on it this particular car seat is a lifesaver compared to other more well known brands, like Graco. Lastly, which vehicle has the better set of tires so you will not have to come out of pocket anytime soon. When the time arrives, do not go cheap on tires. Tires are the single most important aspect of any car as it relates to keeping occupants safe. If the tires can not handle what is being thrown at them day in day out, I don’t care how much you spend or what you drive, it becomes a death trap. You need to understand tires….Mom. Blessings.
Q: Are exhaust parts(cat-back) the same for an 2005 Mercury Mariner and a similar year Ford Escape?
I recently purchased a 2005 Mercury Mariner and I’m having trouble finding a cat-back exhaust kit. I found one for the Ford Escape, but unsure if the kits are interchangeable/
A: Yes – make sure that you have the same engine as spec’d; 4 or V6.
Q: Is there a temorary hitch for a 2007 Ford Escape?
I’m moving from Ohio to PA…just wondering if there is a temporary hitch for a 2007 Ford Escape 4 Cylinder if that matters…I don’t have the thing on my bumper for the ball so is there another way? If so who can I rent it from? Thanks!
A: Referenced sources
1) indicates maximum towing load is 1000 pounds; maybe 1500 pounds on flat terrain. The mountains of Ohio and PA could be a problem for you. I’m assuming you’ll have several people and suitcases, and a roof carrier on the move.
2) parts train has a “hidden hitch” on sale for $190 (used to be $250)
Good luck with your move!
Q: Engine light on on 2006 ford escape?
I have a 2006 Ford Escape, 30,000 miles on it, I hit a piece of tire going down the interstate, the engine light came on 2 months later. Now the engine light will blink, car will shake a little, and also there is a muffled “blum blum” sound (like the sound of a subwoofer) when it is idle. I just recently took it on a 1500 mile trip pulling a uhaul. What could be wrong with my car?
A: ANYTIME you have a BLINKING “Check Engine” light, it means the PCM has detected a class ‘A’ type misfire. This is completely consistent with the symptom you describe about the car “shaking”. A class ‘A’ type misfire is one that WILL damage your catalytic converter if it’s not repaired in a timely manner. Being a 2006 with 30,000 miles, you should bring it into your local Ford dealer AT ONCE, since it’s still within your 3/36 warranty. Do not bring it to Auto Zone or any of those places where they offer you those services to connect those cheesy $40 code readers to tell you the code. These kind of people will try to sell you parts that your car doesn’t need. You are far better off bringing it to the Ford dealer where they will run an EEC test. This test will lead to having your car repaired far quicker than any of those independent places where all they will do is take your money. Hope this helps.
Q: Towing a Ford Taurus with a Ford Escape?
I need to tow a 2007 Ford Taurus (working) from Florida to Texas using a 2000 Ford Escape. Is this doable? If so, what is the best method? Thanks!
A: In short, no, the Escape will not be up to the task. The 2007 Taurus has a curb weight of 3322 pounds, that’s dry, no fluids, nothing in the car.
A 2001 Escape, they were built in 2000 but the first model year was 2001, has a towing capacity of less than what is needed to pull a vehicle that weighs as much as the Taurus. The highest capacity I’ve found for an Escape is between 3,000 and 3,500 pounds, I couldn’t find any exact numbers from Ford. But that is with a V6 with towing package. If you do not have a towing package or have a 4cyl motor, the capacity is significantly less.
You will need to use a larger vehicle with a greater towing capacity to properly and safely tow the Taurus.
