Q: What is the fastest way to accelerate in a manual ford ranger?
I have a 2.3L manual 4cyl 1996 ford ranger xlt regular cab and I wanted to know how to get it up to speed quicker? Keep it in lower gears? Just wondering?

A: 1. swap out your wheels and tires with light weight components
2. swap out the rear end lube, transmission fluid, and engine oil with true synthetic equivalents
3. swap out the mechanical engine fan with an electric fan – this is a huge performance boost for this vehicle
4. up shift at around 4500 rpm

Q: How difficult is it to replace an inertia switch in a ford ranger?
I want to remove and replace the inertia switch in my 2005 ford ranger edge. Does anyone have any online links or sites that might help me through the process or help me choose the right inertia switch?

A: It’s electronic so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue (I would think it has a harness). But first locate the switch (passenger side panel inside the truck) and try the reset button (big red button on top). If it still is giving you problems then go replace it.

Q: Why did Ford move the fuse box behind the passenger side kick panel in 2004 on the Ford Ranger?
Why did Ford move the fuse box behind the passenger side kick panel in 2004 on the Ford Ranger? The fuse box location was just fine in the 1995-2003 Ford Ranger, why did they change something that worked for 9 years?

A: Probably to make it easier for them to build, or to try to keep owners from repairing the truck itself

Q: My 01 ford ranger started shaking when I put it in reverse or drive?
My 01 ford ranger started shaking when i put it in reverse this morning to get out of my parking lot. It then continued to do it when I put it in drive. I quickly put it in park and shut it off. I turned it back on and waited a minute before putting it back in drive and then it was fine. It has done this a couple times now, what could be causing this?

A: needs some tune up
oil is too thick
low octane level
those might cause the shake.

Q: How much would it cost to replace the transmission on a 1994 Ford Ranger?
The car is a 1994 Ford Ranger with a manual 5 speed transmission. I need the total cost for everything. Thanks!!

A: Around $1500 for a reman transmission installed.

Q: I am going to replace the clutch on my 1994 Ford Ranger. What clutch should I buy?
I have a 2WD 1994 Ford Ranger 4 cyl. with 130,000 miles. I am wondering what the differences are between the different clutches out there because they range in price from $110-$200. I do not want to buy a better clutch than I need. Also, what are the differences between all of the different clutches?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: How much for my brake job and what parts exactly would i need for my ford ranger?
My cars a 2000 ford ranger
Disc brakes in front

The front passenger side is grinding real bad, come to find out looks like the rear brake pad has come loose and is grinding against the rotor.
So im going to need new pads a rotors, and maybe a caliper on that 1 side?

A: You have it pretty much down – “new pads, rotors and maybe a caliper.”
That should take care of the front but you won’t know if the rear brakes need anything until you remove the drums.

Q: Ford Ranger?
is ford ranger the best gas mileage truck?

A: Motor Trend voted the Ford Ranger inline 4 2.3l truck to be TIED with the Mazda B2300 for Fuel Economy of 24/29 City/Highway.
So technically, Yes by the current means.

Q: Ford Ranger?
I have a 1993 ford ranger.

1. how much much much would it cost 2 get a paint job(preferably candy paint)

2.How much would it cost to get the truck turned into a lowrider.

3.How much would it cost to get speakers in my truck

I want to do it by myself not by a professional

A: Well, most of those aren’t so difficult, so it shouldn’t be hard without a “professional”.

It depends a lot, huge amounts of variables for different paint. I’m guessing for all the equipment if you plan on buying it yourself, it can range up to a few hundred dollars. The candy paint itself shouldn’t be all that much to purchase though, but once again it depends.

It wouldn’t cost too much to modify it into a lowrider either. A rear airbag suspension system will cost you about $250 for ALL parts needed to modify it, $90 for just a few parts to reduce ride height, and very simple to install. I’m not so sure what you want to do in the front, maybe cut the springs or buy a new system, but that shouldn’t be expensive either, no more than the rear system.

And once again, it varies a lot depending on what you want to install, but regardless it’s still not that expensive. A good set of subwoofers will set you back about $40, and for the whole bang maybe $150.

Good luck on the modifications

Q: Ford Ranger?
I have some questions about the ford ranger (years 07+):

How reliable is it?

How powerful is it? I have heard it is VERY weak, and gets out accelerated by lawn mowers (Lol). Is this true?

How comfortable is it to drive long distances and drive around the city in?

How “tough” is it, for driving off road in, up hills, etc?

Q: ford ranger?
does anyone know the cost range of a used ford ranger? (the small truck that ford USED to make…) i am dying for a white or silver one!

A: Well what model do you want? Do you want a 4 cylinder or V6? Which size engine there is only 1 4 cylinder but depending on what model of a V6 they have a 3.0 and a 4.0 for a good one and fairly new like maybe a 99 or so look at spending around $2,000. It depends on your area also where the trucks are wanted more the more they get for them. Your best bet would be to go to WWW.kbb.com and figure what you want and the miles that you want it to have and it will tell you what the bank will loan you on it. But this question is to open if all you want is a certain color and can drive a manual shift. Then you can get an XL which is like a work truck and you can buy aftermarket parts to make it look a lot nicer.

Q: ford ranger?
my grandpa has a 2003 ford ranger xlt 4×4 and a 4.0l engine and he was wondering how many hp it has can anyone tell me

Q: Ford Ranger?
Okay so I have a 2000 Ford Ranger (Danger Ranger), anywho, whenever I come to a stop it seems like the truck just wants to die, like it can’t breathe (my guess is idle or TPS sensor) , but I just replaced the TPS Sensor (Throttle position sensor) not too long ago. I don’t much about cars. When I turn my AC on , the car idle’s even lower and usually dies. Any ideas? The truck has over 137K miles on it (all regular maintainence, except now I need an alignment and a new clutch) Any help is greatly appreciated.

A: Clean the mass air flow sensor,

fuel filter and air filter.

and look on the left rearside of the throttlebody for a small rubber elbow… it like’s to crack open cause a vaccum leak.

Q: ford ranger????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
im about to get my first car and i fell in LOVE with the little ford rangers :)
im debating between the 2 door with 3 seats or the 2 door with 5 seats…
which one would have faster acceleration and better gas mileage? the years im looking at is like 1995-2000.
thanks much:)

A: it all depends on the individual car. 2 with 5 seats might get worse fuel economy because it is heavier and it might be a little bit slower due to the amount oWeight on it. The 2 door with 3 seats might be alittle bit faster because it is lighter and it might use less gas. but it is ALWAYS about how you drive the car. If you are always speeding up and slowing down and doing all this fast driving your going to go through gas like its going out of style. But if you drive appropriately and steadily you can save alot of gas.

Q: Ford Ranger?
How hard is it to fix the serpentine belt on my ‘97 Ranger (3.0 Liter)? How are is it to replace the air filter? How much do the parts cost? I’m not bad at fixing things, but I have never worked on a car before. Is there some where I can get directions to fix these things?

Garage wants to charge me
$60-Serpentine belt replacement
$20-Air filter replacement

Is it worth the time to do it at home or should I just pay the garage to do it?

A: You would be looking at roughly half the price for a ecent brand of belt and an air filter. Check your prices at your local auto parts store. If you are even slightly enclined, you can replace these on your own. There is a tensioner pulley on the Ranger that you can use a cresent wrench on to gai leverage to release the tension if you have limited tools. Once you release the tension you can take the old belt off, re-route the new belt, releive tension on the pulley once again so you can put the new belt back on the pulleys and then release the tension onto the new belt. As long as you trace the belt over all the pulleys to make sure that you one each pulley true and straight, you’re good to go. The air box will wither have a couple of clips or maybe some scres depending on your year (I don’t recall) but you can also do thi.

What you would be paying for a tthe shop is the conveinence of having somebody else do it all right then and there. It si a one stop deal. Plus a little mark up on parts. Many people find it worth while to have somebody else do it because they will never get around to doing it all on their own and a shop can do it in minutes literally.

It’s your call but I feel certain that you can complete the task if you got into it.
